Silver Surfers Day: Brighton Hill Community Hub
Silver Surfers Day - Fri May 23rd 2008
Silver Surfers' Day is on May 23rd 2008 and it's for everyone in the UK. The idea is to help nearly 10 million over-50s who aren't yet online taste the delights of cyber-life, and give them an appetite for more! Whatever age you are, and whether you represent an organisation or not, you can take part. Whoever you are, big business, small business, sheltered housing scheme, community centre, library, school, pub, bingo hall, sports club - even if you're one person in your own home - you can hold a Silver Surfers' Day IT taster event that will change people's lives this May. You just need to offer an hour or so of your time per visitor and the Learning Zone will do the rest (make sure your email address is logged in the e-zine slot below left so that you'll be informed as the Learning Zone handouts - on everything from the basics to blogging, online shopping to I-player - become available). If you know someone who needs to go to a taster event, then help them to find an Event via the event registration section, around mid-May, or refer them to our Helpline on 0800 100 900. Event Holders: For advice on how to move forward, e-mail silver@digitalunite.net. Press Information: Go here. Silver Surfers' Day is managed by Digital Unite in partnership with Ofcom and is part of Adult Learners' Week. |
