Microlight Flights at Popham

Subject to confirmation and weather we will be doing another Microlight flight from Popham Airfield in the late spring / early summer. Cost of the flights is £45.00 for 20 minutes, £75.00 for 40 minutes and £98.50 pounds for one hour. Booking arrangements will be announced in due course. Please arrive at or before 10.30am to ensure the flights are not delayed. There is a coffee bar/restaurant on site if you just want to watch. This will be a joint event with other clubs around London and the South East. Gliding at Lasham

During the summer months we can provide an evening with a real difference for your company, club or simply a group of friends. We can normally accommodate groups of between 6 and 25 people depending on the time of year.

Flying can be arranged every evening of the week throughout the summer with the exception of a Saturday evening.

Group co-ordinator
Appoint a group co-ordinator to organise the group, encourage other members of your organisation or party to participate in the evening's flying, collect the money, etc. Your group co-ordinator, or whoever they nominate, flies free of charge.

The flight
After a group safety briefing, you will fly in a dual control, two seat training glider, with a fully qualified instructor, who will explain the instruments and how to use the controls to fly the aircraft. You will then have the opportunity to handle the glider under the supervision of your instructor while enjoying the stunning scenery of Hampshire. Your flight to 2500' and back will typically last between 10 - 15 minutes.

After the flight
When visiting the airfield for a trial flight you automatically become a temporary member of Lasham Gliding Society for period of one month and as such you are welcome to use our facilities during that period. Our restaurant and bar open every day throughout the summer for meals and snacks. Large groups can be catered for by pre-booking through our catering manager.

With your temporary membership you will be able to return to Lasham to enjoy further flights, this time at member rates. We are open seven days a week.

Please Note

No alcohol must be consumed before flight. Your instructor will refuse to fly with you if he suspects you have been drinking.

People under 18 years of age will require written consent of a parent or guardian.

If you are less than 7 stone (45kg) or more than 17 stone (108kg), you may not be able to fly. Also very tall people, more than 6ft 4ins, will have difficulty fitting into the cockpit.

London IVC Flying Club

Basingstoke & North Hampshire IVC members are invited to join Alan and Sid from the London IVC Flying Club on their flying events. Alan and Sid go somewhere almost every weekend weather permitting. Look in the club diary for details of flying events from London IVC.

Sightseeing trip over the Dome - £25 per person for a 50 min flight.

Trip to North Weald airfield - this was a WWII Spitfire base and the bar is still basically as it was but with lots of WWII and spitfire memorabilia - they also do fantastic bacon butties! - £30 pp.

Holiday on the beach! - Yep some of you did the trip to Le Touquet last year. This is a lovely French town with a fantastic beach, lots of sun, French bread (and a little wine) - just for a day! - £75 pp.

We can of course go to other destinations if you have a preference, just let me know - and we can book a flight to suite you.
