Beckenham/Bromley's first Meet-Your-Neighbour pub evening of the month. There has been a pub on this site for at least 200 years and used to serve Anerley Pleasure Gardens as well as the adjacent canal. The present pub is pure Victorian and after a Gas explosion 38 years ago when everything 'went out through the windows', Samuel Smiths brewery bought the remains and restored it in every detail. The pub is easy to find as it is beside the up-line platform of Anerley Station (Overground and National Rail), i.e. the opposite side from the booking hall. Most members will be eating tonight as the food and drink prices are normal pub prices, i.e. slightly more expensive than Wetherspoons'. Please note that last orders for meals must be placed before 8.20pm. New members are especially welcome.
Please note that this will be our final pub evening at this location.
