OBJECTIONS TO PLANNING APPLICATION FOR SUPERMARKET IN BELMONT AREA
(OPPOSITE THE ENTRANCE ONTO ST MARKS ROAD)
You may be aware that there is a planning application pending for the above and as local residents, a group of us feel that we should protest against its implementation. We haven’t got much time to do anything as the deadline date is 21st July. So please write to or e-mail your local councillors, members of the development committee and join us on our website for further information, notice of meetings etc.
There are several good reasons for doing this:
1. The location is a hazardous one in terms of pedestrians, motorists and cyclists.
2. The site facing the A4 already carries high levels of traffic but is also exposing St Marks to an increase in traffic volumes as 10 car parking spaces are accessible from St Marks Road and the delivery vehicles (at least 4-5 a day) between 7-10am exit onto St Marks.
3. There is no provision for staff parking on site which will have the inevitable consequence of staff parking in local residential roads.
4. The location is in a prominent position which will attract higher volumes of traffic at peak periods which will undoubtedly create far more congestion than already exists.
5. This will add to the already acute problems of parking in the area.
We have to take action if we want to stop this happening. Please follow the links to the attached site and register your objection to this development before it is too late.
