Home: Maidenhead - Heathrow
Conservative Position on the Third Runway The third runway has effectively become a touchstone for any Conservative Candidate in any of the West London constituencies.
By killing the project in the way they have they have made it clear its not dead, hence a future problem for the Conservative Party. It will not help any candidate in future elections to be lukewarm in their opposition to the runway. This will not stop the lobbying and manovering to overcome the objections, but it will make them much more opaque.
The real chanllenge is to make the decision impossible to implement.
Any ideas. 2007-06-27 Noise over Berkshire
I just wish these were the heavy passenger planes we see all the time, the new version of these planes are more advanced but still noisy. We are going to suffer from takeoffs and landings from 6:00 in the morning until 11:00 at night with a further 200 landings overnight. Basically the objections to the continued expansion of the HUB at Heathrow will prove to be its downfall, already any kind of disruption to the daily schedule has a ripple effect through the rest of that day, there is virtually not slack in the system. Today the gas leak in Hatton Cross has caused the most horrific traffic jams, the Gate Gourmette debacle was another nightmare for the traveller. For residents the problems are compounded, the operators have to have more consideration for the tranquility of the lives of others. But to get our voice heard we will have to make as much noise in the right quarters as the planes make. Join up and sleep better |
